I've decided I needed to change combat to be more standard in how unintercepted units can behave. I've decided to no longer allow attacking players to fire on anything on the defending player's side and only allow unintercepted units to fire at the Flagship, resources or construction items. This will allow players to better protect vital ships from attack from powerful players, example aircraft carriers.
Edit:I have decided not to include the above rule for sake of realism, any unit that is attacking and not intercepted can still fire on anything on the defending player's side.
Another change I'm going to make is to allow any ship to intercept any attacking ship. I'm also going to introduce the keyword Defender to the game and give it to all aircraft carriers. This change will allow aircraft carriers to be assigned as interceptors in combat if players choose to, however the carrier would not be able to counter-fire against a ship if its base attack is 0. If the carrier is equipped with an Anti-Air weapon she will have the potential to deal damage to attacking aircraft. This change also makes it that subs can intercept attacking surface ships. The surface ship or controlling player will still have to have a SONAR in order to fire at the sub. Standard combat rules would apply here. These changes will be effective immediately in both the digital and printed versions of the game. Any questions or comments about these changes please reply to this post.
